Prosdex is the interactive decision explorer funded by Cancer Research UK, and is designed for men facing the PSA test.
Men who are concerned about prostate cancer can choose to have a PSA (prostate specific antigen) test which may detect prostate cancer. However, the test is not a perfect test for detecting prostate cancer. When deciding whether or not to have the test, the Department of Health specified that men should be provided with full information about the test's advantages and disadvantages.
Prosdex was developed and designed
as a web-based decision explorer, in collaboration with Swansea, Cardiff and
Oxford Universities and commissioned by the National Screening Committee and
Cancer Research UK, to help men decide whether or not to have the PSA test.
Prosdex also contains video clips of actors telling a number of stories about
PSA testing. These clips include the stories of men who decided to have the
test, men who had a normal test and men who needed further tests or treatment.
The web-based decision explorer can be viewed at www.prosdex.org.uk
